Naturally no cycling trip would be complete without a few gadgets to tinker with ;-) As well as the Garmin Edge 605 cycle computer/GPS already mentioned, I'm taking a mobile phone, digital camera and a Nokia N810 internet tablet. The last of these is for copying the route logs from the 605 and uploading them online so that they can be viewed on a map. I'll also be using it for updating the blog and for general entertainment.
All the gadgets can be powered by USB (except the camera, which runs on disposable batteries), so only one power adapter and cable is required, plus connectors for each individual item. The cable (with appropriate adapters) will also be used to connect the N810 to the 605. Pictures from the camera will be transferred by simply inserting its memory card into the N810.

It sounds a great but tiring day. I seem to remember that the countryside was lovely and the hills are not a problem in a car!! Mum
